Welcome to the weekly guide to Doctor Who broadcasts around the world. And unlike last week, the link to the listserve given above actually goes to the listserve, as opposed to a non-existant portion of Google. |

Canadians - set your calendars. SPACE: The Imagination Station http://www.spacecast.com/ will repeat Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 A.D. on Sunday, May 6 at 2PM EDT (3:30PM in Newfoundland, 11AM PDT). Even though SPACE let its rights to the series expire in May of 2000, they still have the rights to this movie through a package of movies. The package appears not to include the other Peter Cushing Dr. Who movie - Dr Who and the Daleks. |
Chicago area fans - WYIN 56 in Gary, Indiana http://www.wyin.org/ is finally doing something right. Since their Red Dwarf rights are expiring, WYIN is going from 1 Doctor Who episode a week to 2, beginning May 19th at 10PM. This would seem to corroborate WYIN's claims that they were going to try to treat Doctor Who fans better than they did last year, when they frequently aired episodes at random, and rarely aired the advertised episode. Now that WYIN is doing something good, I'd advise thanking them. They already know that Doctor Who fans get annoyed at shoddy service, so it's time to make sure they know that fans will support good service. |
Urbana, Illinois fans watching Doctor Who on WILL 12 http://www.will.uiuc.edu/ have probably noticed the last few weeks that the episodes have not corresponded with the info in the column. Due to a problem beyond their control, they had to jump to Planet of Evil, skipping over Terror of the Zygons, which had been the advertised story. They will go back to Terror of the Zygons beginning May 12. |
St. Paul, Minnesota fans of TPT http://www.tpt.org/ may have noticed this already, but episode 1 of The Pirate Planet aired on both March 31st and April 7th, throwing off their schedule by one week. The column now has the correct episodes indicated. |
People in New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, and Vermont who watch NHPTV http://www.nhptv.org/ may have noticed that the start time for Doctor Who has started to vary. The 12:30AM Late Thursday installment moved to Midnight without notice, but will be at 12:30AM again one week next month. The Midnight late Saturday repeat will air at 1AM one week next month. And they'll take a week off for an auction in the middle of The Androids of Tara in May as well. Thanks to John in Massachusetts for alerting me to NHPTV's new waffling attitude towards start times. |
Denver fans who've sat through frequent pre-emptions on KBDI 12 http://www.kbdi.org/ now have to wait later at night to see the show when it's on. Beginning this Saturday, Doctor Who moves from 10PM to 11PM, still with 2 episodes a week. Meanwhile, the late Friday reruns look like they will only air every two weeks for a while, with all 4 episodes of a story airing at a time. |

UK Gold http://www.sceneone.co.uk/s1/tv/listings Sun 8:05-10AM BST The Hand Of Fear movie (Note new earlier start time to accommodate that British sci-fi classic - Quantam Leap?) In Elisabeth Sladen's final appearance in the series as a regular character, Sarah gets an evil hand in a rock quarry. Now, it's driving her to kill and take over a nuclear power facility. Thankfully, this is Doctor Who, not Angel, so we don't have to find out if Sarah can sing well in a karaoke bar to find the answer. The Nunton power facility in this story was at one point going to be the Nuton facility first seen and ravaged by aliens in The Claws of Axos. |

KTEH 54 San Jose, CA http://www.kteh.org/ Sat 11PM PDT The War Machines all 4 eps (Note: this story is in episode format, while the other Hartnell stories in KTEH's run were in movie format. KTEH was unable to get the episode prints in time for this run of Hartnell, but already had this story from a package of cleaned up specials. This version corresponds to the one released on video in 1997, with restored picture and several scenes that were missing in the old episode and movie versions.) In the final complete Hartnell story, the Doctor and Dodo return to London in 1966, where a group of scientists have built a supercomputer that can link with almost any computer. An inter-net, you could say. But will this be the benevolent system everyone hopes for, or a means to create a great evil? |
