The Guardian of Time gives the Doctor a difficult task, and a new assistant. Together they must search for the six segments of the Key to Time, to prevent the Universe from being plunged into eternal chaos.
On their mission, the Doctor and Romana travel to the planet Ribos where the first segment of the key is protected by the monstrous Shrivenzale.

Leela and the Doctor visit a Lighthouse which has gone a bit dark. Seems an incredibly unlikely fog descended on the place and the power went out. A ship's crashed, leaving some snooty aristocrats stuck there being nosy. And the dead are coming back to life. Normally this would not be suspicious, but all these events going on at a lighthouse? Could be an alien at work.

The DeMat Gun. The most dangerous weapon ever created by the Time Lords. To stop an invasion, someone may be foolish enough to make one. Meanwhile, Leela spends a surprising amount of time around a Citadel Guard she barely knows. Is this love?

With a new K-9 and no responsibilities, the 4th Doctor prepares for a return to carefree days with no companions. But a sinister figure in white has other ideas. Will the Doctor be roped into a hunt for a mysterious Key with the dubious purpose of putting good and evil on an even keel in the universe?
