Welcome to the weekly effort to compile the Doctor Who broadcasts around the world. |

Doctor Who Night is back. IPTV Iowa has finally scheduled the National Doctor Who Night. It will air March 16 at 10:35(?)PM CST as part of their annual Festival. The UNIT fan club will be answering the phones that night. Iowa's turn to see Remembrance of the Daleks, Sylvester McCoy in a Black suit with white plastic spoons, and the wackiness that ensued. Maybe Warner will even have fixed the Edge Of Destruction release by then, so people will actually be able to pledge and get good copies. |
|
Good news for WYIN viewers. The station aired episodes from the same story for 2 weeks in a row, which indicates they actually want to work through this story (The Invisible Enemy). They aired this story once before, of course, so it's unclear whether they will go back to The Invasion of Time when Invisible is finished or play something else. |

Saturday schedules on PBS stations could be unreliable this weekend, as many of them are covering the US Presidential Innaguration. While George W. Bush does not have a reputation for being chronically late like his predecessor had before the 1993 Innaguration, these ceremonies are famous for going on and on. Doctor Who is less likely than other shows to suffer from this marathon running long, as the earliest any station is airing the show is KBTC at 7PM Pacific Time (10PM Eastern). But things happen, so beware. As someone who nearly froze with the Boy Scouts doing crowd control in 1993, my sympathies for everyone who's going to be out in that weather. No wonder some Daleks had attachments that let them emit fire. It probably helped them keep warm. |

Any Doctor Who news would be early in the hour. The main story will be the upcoming dual strike between actors and writers, and the cataclysmic temporal wobbly effect on this year's movies. Can the galaxy survive with rushed films followed by a drought? Arne Starr is the guest in a tale of Sci-Fi Nuclear Winter. No episode next weekend due to the Super Bowl. |

UK Gold http://www.sceneone.co.uk/s1/tv/listings Sun 8:05-10:55AM GMT The Monster of Peladon movie The Doctor returns to Peladon as that planet faces another menace. The miners are ready to revolt, and some of the members of the Galactic Federation want Peladon to remain weak, no matter how dangerous that is. UK Gold 2 http://www.sceneone.co.uk/s1/tv/listings UK Gold 2 continues its disturbing trend of not repeating UK Gold stories that are more than 4 episodes long. So, tape Monster Of Peladon on UK Gold in the morning, because UK Gold 2 will air a Knotts Landing Omnibus. |

BBC Prime http://www.bbcprime.com/ Late Fri 12:55AM*, Sat 3:30PM, Sun 11:30AM CET Black Orchid ep 2 of 2 *Not seen in all regions. The 5th Doctor is arrested for murder. My sympathies for any viewers watching the series for the first time who are going to wonder what happened. Still, maybe it's just a goof on the website. |

KTEH 54 San Jose, CA http://www.kteh.org/ Sun 11PM PST The Edge of Destruction movie (The Edge Of Destruction, The Brink Of Disaster) An explosion aboard TARDIS leaves the crew with fragmented memories and a paranoid suspicion of each other. NOTE - the movie version has a scene missing from the US episodic version - the cliffhanger at the end leading into the Marco Polo story, followed by the original closing credits from 1964. The recent video release of Edge Of Destruction in America accidentally used the US episodic prints, and did not have that scene, necessitating a recall. Sun 11:47(?)PM PST "KTEH Doctor Who Music Video No. 1)" music video - world premiere! Deep in the caverns of KTEH, several Doctor Who music videos have been put together. The first one is premiering here. I don't have the info right with me on which video is airing, but my addled memory tells me that they sounded like they would be very good when I was told about them some time ago. Set the VCR. |
