Section B - The Public TV stations.

KVPT 18 Fresno, CA has scheduled their third run of Series 1 - Sundays at 10:30PM PDT starting 10 August, some months after they last aired Series 1. No word on if they have purchased Series 2. WJCT 7 Jacksonville, FL starts their 4th/final run of Series 1 the same night at 11PM EDT, airing 2 episodes per Sunday. KACV 2 Amarillo, TX has scheduled their second run of Series 1 - Sundays at 10PM CDT starting 21 September, roughly a year after they last aired Series 1. No word on if they have purchased Series 2. Idaho Public TV is starting their 5th run of Series 1 (I guess this means they bought Series 1 again) Saturdays at 11PM MDT/10PM PDT starting 4 October, following their current run of Series 2.

WXXI 21 Rochester, NY and WTTW 11 Chicago, IL start their 2nd cycle of Series 2 tonight with The Christmas Invasion, while WSKG 46 Binghamton, NY starts their first cycle with Christmas Invasion tonight too.

KTEH 54 San Jose, CA will air the 1998 docucomedy Doctor Who's Lust In Space tonight and Sunday. Starring several of the Doctor Who cast, the farcical production focused on the question - is Doctor Who sexist? The 2nd cycle of Series 2 of new Who starts this Thursday at 7PM PDT.

WLIW 21 Long Island, NY will finish their 3rd cycle of Series 1 late Friday at 1AM EDT. Doctor Who is leaving the schedule at this point, and there is no sign that they purchased Series 2 of new Who.

Series 1 is currently available to public TV stations in a package
until February 28, 2009. Series 2 is currently available to public TV
stations in a package until March 31, 2010. At this time, stations do
not have access to Series 3 and 4.

4 Public TV stations currently have rights to air the classic Doctor Who run (1963-1989). Iowa Public TV is currently airing both Series 2 and Colin Baker episodes. KBTC 28 Tacoma, WA and WCET 48 Cincinnati, OH are airing Tom Baker episodes while resting Series 1. WHRO 15 Norfolk, VA is airing Tom Baker episodes but apparently does not have New Who Series rights.

Three stations have used all their rights to the Series 1 package - WLVT 39 Allentown, PA, WILL 12 Urbana, IL, and Iowa Public TV. Idaho Public TV will air a 5th Cycle of Series 1 starting in October. OETA Oklahoma has used half of their 4th and final cycle of Series 1. WMFE 24 Orlando, FL did not renew Doctor Who. Maryland Public TV is claiming that their rights have expired, though they can still air Series 1 two more times before February 28, and they are not ruling out buying future episodes. If any other stations have non-renewed, they have yet to tell us.

Remember, for the Series 1 and 2 packages, stations have bought the rights to cycle through the episodes 4 times. They are not required to do so. WMFE 24 Orlando, FL is not expected to use their 4th run of Series 1. Other stations may make the same choice for Series 1 as February 28, 2009 comes close. Unless a station admits what they are doing, I'm stuck keeping it here with the most hopeful scenario (the number of times they still *could* air the episodes).

DWEThe 1985 episodes (Classic Season 22) were 45 minutes in the UK, but split in half to make traditional length episodes for most overseas sales. The versions used for US broadcast are these ones which have been split up. Some of them have very unconventional cliffhangers due to when the split needed to occur.
