Ztelé http://www.ztele.com/index.jsp , a French language channel in Canada, added Doctor Who to their schedule on 3 January. They are airing Doctor Who cropped to 4:3 pan & scan format, using the same French dub that aired on France 4 in November and December. One episode per week. Episodes premiere Tuesday at 8PM, repeating Friday at 9PM, Saturday at 8AM, Sunday at 4PM, and the next Tuesday at 2PM. All times EST - adjust for local times. Canadians who want to see Ztelé should check their cable/satellite services - it may require a more expensive package than you have right now. Ztelé airs mostly US/Canadian/UK English language shows that have been dubbed. |
Hong Kong correction - thanks to further translations of the article from last week, there's a correction on the channel airing the show. Doctor Who will actually be on ATV World http://www.hkatv.com/world/05 . ATV World is an over the air English language channel. Doctor Who is still expected on 19 February. |
US/Canadian Doctor Who fans will have to wait longer for the R1 DVD release of Series One (the Christopher Eccleston episodes). The DVD release has been postponed for problems which were not explained. Steve Manfred's Doctor Who on North American Video/DVD FAQ http://home.comcast.net/~smanfred , TV Shows On DVD http://www.tvshowsondvd.com , and the Outpost Gallifrey News Page http://www.doctorwhonews.com . This DVD release would have been the first official chance for US fans who live south of the CBC's TV reception range to see Series One, though some fans have purchased the DVD sets from the UK or Australia to play on multi-region DVD players. If you're in the US or Canada and want to get the UK or Australian sets instead of waiting, those sets require a DVD player that accepts PAL signals and has been set to region 2, region 4, or region free. All US players are sold set to region 1, not all of them accept PAL signals or can be modified. |

BBC7 http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbc7 finishes "The Chimes Of Midnight" this Saturday at 6:30PM & 12:30AM GMT. The 6th Paul McGann/India Fisher Doctor Who story (5th presented on BBC 7 - they skipped Minuet In Hell for content reasons). No word on when more episodes will air, but they'll probably buy more, and given the station's history a repeat of the McGann stories previously aired is almost certain. Someday. |
The BBC Press Office http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice and C21 Media http://www.c21media.net often announce when a Doctor Who international sale occurs. Worth keeping an eye on, just in case. |
