Production continues on the new series of Doctor Who, though the outdoor shoots that fans were able to go to and send pictures from seem to have come to an end for the moment. Outpost Gallifrey http://www.gallifreyone.com and the Cuttings Archive http://www.cuttingsarchive.org.uk have lots of pictures, details, and links to more pictures about last week for those who want to get early glimpses. The BBC site http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/doctorwho is now putting up one photo a day of the new production to slowly tease readers. |
No US cable broadcaster yet - nobody came forward at the Television Critics Association tour and said "we've got Doctor Who". There probably is not yet enough completed footage for any networks beyond BBC One to commit. A premiere date in the UK would probably precede any announcement in other countries as well - so far we have no official start date. Only rumors (which currently seem to focus on March). |
Another actor has been cast on the new series. Noel Clarke is playing "Mickey". As of publication time the reports on Outpost Gallifrey http://www.gallifreyone.com and the BBC's Doctor Who website http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/doctorwho do not make it clear whether Mickey is a regular, a semi-regular, or a guest star. Ran out of time to edit TWIDW today - Noel Clarke's prior acting roles are described on those websites and there's not sufficient time to vet whether Mickey's character description would be too much of a spoiler for this column. Maybe next week. |

Maryland Public TV http://www.mpt.org is repeating Frontier In Space this weekend, 2 ½ years after dropping the last 20 minutes in a scheduling error. If you missed the ending last time, watch and have closure. No, this does not mean that MPT will wisen up and air the complete version of Planet of the Daleks next weekend - they will air the incomplete movie version from the 1980s as always which has episode 3 and other bits missing. Viewers in the MPT area have made it very clear that movie format is what they want MPT to do, so unless a movie version is made incorporating the black & white episode, they'll just use the old one. |
