Doctor Who joins the world of talk radio this week. Joey Reynolds has started a new weekly online radio show, this time exclusively focused on Doctor Who. Titled American Who, it will be released on the internet every week or two in MP3 format. The show starts with a news roundup, then goes into interviews. The pilot show (online now) features an interview with John Nathan-Turner from 1993 and a chat with Benjamin Elliott regarding the Daleks. May 1, 2003 was the date by which non-commercial TV stations in the US were supposed to begin transmitting in digital in addition to their analog broadcasts. Like the commercial stations last year, many of them got extensions, but the transition is beginning to happen. KBTC-DT 27 Tacoma, WA and KUES-DT 19 Richfield, UT have apparently gone on the air in the last week, bringing Doctor Who in digital without ghosts. In the case of KUES, they would have had to turn off the analog signal, which was also on 19. KUES was more of a repeater for KUED 7, so hopefully people without digital TV in the Richfield area can still get KUED 7.

Maryland Public TV surprised viewers last weekend. On what was going to be the first non-Who weekend in 5 years, they suddenly scheduled Ressurrection Of The Daleks to air late Saturday May 3 starting at 12:57AM. It was not on their online schedule first thing Saturday morning, but it was there Saturday evening. The story did air.

While I try to keep the column up to date, I do sometimes miss late changes to schedules. If you see TWIDW's information getting out of synch with what your local station is actually airing, let me know ASAP.
