Bad News For Canadians - SPACE drops the series! Canada - SPACE: The Imagination Station is discontinuing Doctor Who after the 10 March broadcast (The Sontaran Experiment episode 2). The channel has made no statement over whether this is a permanent or temporary drop. However, they have not ordered any episodes beyond the original 130 episode deal, and the show has been exiled to a 7:30AM Eastern showing for well over a year, so I would be very surprised if it returns anytime soon. Not that this is the final end of the TARDIS on SPACE. SPACE almost always airs their movies a number of times, and they have only shown Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 A.D. once so far. Among the likely casualties of SPACE's cancellation is Tom (Sloth)'s SPACE Doctor Who schedule page. It's a nice, easy to load page (as opposed to SPACE's own website) which has kept Canadian fans up to date through the shifting fortunes of the show. UK - I may have spoken too soon about the Doctor's ratings last week. Overnight ratings for the final BBC 2 broadcast (Genesis of the Daleks 6) indicate that only 1.5 million people watched. I guess showing the most rerun Doctor Who story in BBC broadcast TV history is not the best way to draw in new viewers. |

USA - Pittsburgh fans will want to search through WQED's website. They've put up a sci-fi page (pretty much just Doctor Who) updating their viewers on current plans and fundraising goals. It also lists how much it costs to order each story that they are trying to obtain. The website is http://www.wqed.org/ . |
