Australian Cable / Satellite subscribers, bad news. UKTV is not airing all 4 episodes of The Tenth Planet after all. The Tenth Planet had been scheduled to air August 11th - 13th, with episode 4 airing on August 16th. In the last week, however, the people at UKTV discovered that episode 4 of TheTenthPlanet is missing (this was apparently a big surprise). They don't have the rights to air incomplete stories at this time, so the rest of The Tenth Planet had to be pulled as well. The replacement programming:

August 11th - 13th: 30 Years In The TARDIS, a 50 minute documentary, at around 17 minutes a night. (Might instead air More Than 30 Years In The TARDIS, the 90 minute video version.)

August 16th: Resistance Is Useless - a 30 minute special with lots of surviving clips from lost stories.

Warning - 30 Years In The TARDIS was pulled from the Who Files last fall hours before being shown in 2 25 minute parts because UKTV discovered they didn't have the rights to show it. I wouldn't be surprised if the schedule changed again.

Also, UKTV has now decided to continue the Who-Files at least into November, with no word on when they will go through the series in order again. For the time being, special ads filmed by Frazer Hines playing Jamie are preceding each broadcast. The Tenth Planet would have begun their collection of final stories for each Doctor. On September 23rd, a collection of the top 10 Doctor Who stories, as chosen by UKTV viewers, will begin.

Other than Australia, Doctor Who has been suspiciously quiet this week in the TV realm. WYIN 56, the station in the Chicago market with the Doctor, has a mini-marathon this week, an old special next week, and, best of all, they've updated their web site for the first time since February. Also, a marching drum band has a special that's going out live on many PBS stations on Saturday, August 14 at 10PM EDT, and delayed in other markets. The special will pre-empt Doctor Who that weekend in New Hampshire, Pittsburgh, and possibly other markets.

On the Friday night Black & White, catch the memorable 2nd ever Dalek story. The Daleks take their evil to Earth, and wipe the floor with us. Remade as Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 A.D., a 1966 movie with Peter Cushing as Dr. Who. On Sunday, the 4th Doctor and Romana search for the 5thKey of the Key To Time on a swampy moon. This is the weakest story of the Key series, even though it garnered the highest ratings of the six stories. John Leeson goes a long way towards making it watchable in his role as one of the refinery employees, his only appearance in the series where he wasn't playing the voice of K9.

The week ends with the beginning of the 7th Doctor. Forced to crash and regenerate by the Rani, an amnesiac Doctor is tricked into helping the Rani repair her equipment.
