Overnights: as in previous years, the Queen's Christmas message was the most watched programme of the day, with a combined BBC1/ITV audience of 7.13m viewers. This year's chart was dominated by the BBC, however, with the channel taking all of the other top six slots: the three 'prime-time' shows settled into the order of Mrs Brown's Boys (6.80m), Strictly Come Dancing (6.46m) and Call The Midwife (6.34m) this time, with Eastenders at 6.29m nudging Doctor Who out of the Top 5 with its 5.66m viewers (though the 5 minute breakdown shows that 5.90m were watching the regeneration). ITV's highest rated programmes was Coronation Street with 5.07m viewers.
