Report from the This Week in Doctor Who Archive:
Friday 29th January 1999:
UK Gold - satellite / cable channel
Late Friday from Midnight to 1:20AM - Planet of Giants - movie version
Sunday from 8:35 to 10:20AM - The Ark In Space - movie version
Sunday from 10:20 to 11:20AM - The Sontaran Experiment - movie version (moved to following week)
The weekend begins with the adventure where the 1st Doctor finally got Ian and Barbara back to 20th Century Earth. Slight problem - they've all be shrunk to an inch in height. While they're trying to decide what to do next, a man is killed to cover up a secret that endangers all their lives. On Sunday morning fans get a double feature of the 4th Doctor. The Doctor, Sarah, and Harry land on a space station where the survivors of humanity sleep, waiting for a wake-up call that may never come. Then they stop by Earth to see if it is now ready for human habitation again, only to find that it isn't as uninhabited as people think. Great Doctor Who stories, albeit on at times when most viewers will be asleep or at Church. Thank goodness for VCRs.
