WTVP 47 Peoria, IL http://www.wtvp.org has updated their web site as of January 23. Through donations, they are now $500,000 in pledges short of the amount needed to avoid losing the station. They cannot bring in new revenue to run the station right now, so with cash on hand the estimated shutdown is the end of February if they cannot raise the funds to deal with the outstanding loan. They are saving money by not printing February TV listings - their February details are available in .pdf form on the website, including a 3rd cycle of new Who Series 1 Saturdays at 9PM. If you are in WTVP's viewing area or just wanted to thank them for being one of the stations airing Doctor Who, send them an e-mail or call. They would not mind a pledge too. |

Maryland Public TV http://www.mpt.org is resting classic Who again to do their 2nd cycle of new Who Series 1. Late Saturdays at Midnight from 2 February. Nightmare of Eden was supposed to air tonight (January 26) but has been replaced with a pledge special. Nightmare of Eden has not been rescheduled. Due to the way MPT has been airing Who, Nightmare of Eden was the last story to air in April 2007 before their first run of new Who Series 1. |

WMFE 24 Orlando, FL http://www.wmfe.org is the first station to publicly reveal that they will *not* pick up the second series of the Doctor Who package. WMFE's Nancy Zappa sent this message to a viewer who asked about the pickup: WMFE purchased the 900 series of Doctor Who and aired all 13 episodes from April thru June 2007, but the viewership and interest was very low. Unfortunately the price of the next series is very high and WMFE has made the decision not to purchase. Thank you for your interest in WMFE programming. |
As of this writing, 45* stations are known to have bought the 2005 series of Doctor Who (the 13 Christopher Eccleston episodes), while 19 stations are known to have bought the 2006 series (David Tennant's first batch). Many of the public TV stations have also gotten the Cut Down versions of Doctor Who Confidential Series 1 (as seen on the DVD set). Stations have the right to cycle through Series 1 for 4 times before February 28, 2009. They can cycle through Series 2 for 4 times between April 1, 2008 and March 31, 2010. If you are happy that your station is airing Doctor Who, send a financial pledge of support, write them a letter, or send them an e-mail. |

If Series 3 becomes available to public TV stations, it will be after the episodes have aired on BBC America. BBC America airs Series 3 from January 26 to April 19 2008. |

4 Public TV stations currently have rights to air the classic Doctor Who run (1963-1989). Iowa Public TV is currently airing both Series 1 and Peter Davison episodes. Maryland Public TV is airing Series 1 while resting classic Who. KBTC 28 Tacoma, WA and WCET 48 Cincinnati, OH are airing Tom Baker episodes while resting Series 1. |

One station has, to the best of our knowledge, used all their rights to the Series 1 package already - WLVT 39 Allentown, PA. If they air Series 1 again, then that means they re-bought the package or I misunderstood the meaning of cycling through the episodes 4 times. WILL 12 Urbana, IL, Iowa Public TV, and Idaho Public TV are currently on their 4th and presumably final cycle of Series 1. WMFE 24 Orlando, FL did not renew Doctor Who for a second series and is not expected to return it to their schedule. |
