THIS WEEK IN DOCTOR WHO

Thursday 5 January:

Friday 6 January:

Jimmy (Italy) - 9PM - The Empty Child
Saturday 7 January:
één Belgium 4PM - World War Three
New year, new station airing Doctor Who. The International Channel
in Hong Kong has picked up Doctor Who for a premiere on Sunday 19
February at 11:15PM. See
http//groups.yahoo.com/group/thisweekindoctorwho/message/369 . I've
come across two translations of the show title - the version in that
quote is "Different World Outstandingly Able Person". I've been told
it also translates as "Wonder Man From Alien World". The
International Channel is a cable network in Hong Kong. As of this
writing the channel's website has not been tracked down.
In Australia, it's the Hopman Cup, not the Holman Cup that is pre-empting the classic series repeats through the 6th. ABC Australia's http://www.abc.net.au/tv advance listings now extend through 4 February, with parts 2 and 3 of Survival airing on Friday 3 February, finishing the repeat run that began in September 2003. It is expected that ABC will replace Doctor Who with other programming - they told groups like the SFSA http://www.sfsa.org.au when they began the run that they had only bought the rights to air the episodes one time. To air them again at the same time or a different time would mean they'd have had to buy rights to another repeat. The schedules for 5 February through 11 February should be online in a couple of days, and will reveal ABC's future plans.
Één Belgium http://www.een.be resumes Doctor Who this week after a 2 week break. Still keeping an eye on the online listings for Nederland 3, TV2 Finland, SVT Sweden, RTLKlub Hungary - no sign of a premiere date yet on those broadcasters.
BBC7 http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbc7 premieres part 3 of "The Chimes Of
Midnight", a 2002 Big Finish audio story with Paul McGann as the 8th
Doctor and India Fisher as Charley Pollard. Airs 7 January at 6:30PM
& 12:30AM GMT, then is available through listen again. The story
concludes on the 14th.
The BBC Press Office http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice and C21 Media
http://www.c21media.net often announce when a Doctor Who
international sale occurs. Worth keeping an eye on, just in case.
