This Week In Doctor Who - January 19, 2005
(posted 19th Jan 2005, 12:49pm - TWIDW post #0271)
THIS WEEK IN DOCTOR WHO
January 19, 2005 - Vol 8, No 3
The weekly guide to Doctor Who broadcasts worldwide.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/thisweekindoctorwho
The cable portion of the TCA Press Tour in the USA did not reveal if
any networks have picked up the new series in that country. The
broadcast network portion of the Tour runs through the rest of this
week, but no broadcast networks were expected to buy the show. It
would have been nice if a network had announced a deal then.
Instead, the waiting game continues. No additional countries had
picked up the series anywhere as of publication time.
Happy Birthday to Tom Baker. 76 years old on 20 January 2005.
I think the hammer is dropping on the last over the air Doctor Who
broadcasts in the US ...
Cincinnati Doctor Who affiliate WCET 48 http://cetconnect.org has pulled the Doctor Who broadcast for January 29 (episodes 1 and 2 of The Dæmons). Next week their February schedules will be up and we will be able to confirm if this was the end of their contract, or if it will air a little longer. If this is the end, then Doctor Who on WCET ends January 22 at 11PM with the final 2 episodes of Colony In Space.
Urbana, IL Doctor Who affiliate WILL 12 http://www.will.uiuc.edu only has advanced listings for the rest of this month (including part 4 of Terminus on January 29 at 11:38PM). But http://www.zap2it.com has been listing episodes of Enlightenment for the first 2 weeks of February. These advanced listings are now gone. Again, it will be next week till we know the situation for sure.
Philadelphia Doctor Who affiliate WYBE 35 http://www.wybe.org aired the last 2 episodes of Survival on January 15. Doctor Who is scheduled for the next 2 Saturdays, but it is unclear what episodes will air. WYBE was trying to get permission to air "season 1" - unclear what their definition was. Presumably WYBE will air the first story that they still have on hand.
Iowa Public TV http://www.iptv.org and KUED 7 Salt Lake City, UT http://www.kued.org have episodes scheduled through February. Maryland Public TV http://www.mpt.org has a new PBS supplied program guide somewhat inferior to their previous homegrown one that gives no information past the end of January.
