Good news in New Hampshire! New Hampshire Public TV (NHPTV) shocked fans three months ago by moving Doctor Who from Sunday afternoons to late Thursday nights, a very difficult time slot for all but the most die-hard viewers. Now they are adding a second airing of Doctor Who at a more convenient time for people to see it. Beginning Saturday, April 7th, there will be a Midnight rerun of the Thursday episodes. While Late Saturday at Midnight is by no definition a *good* time for Doctor Who, it is earlier in the evening than 12:30AM and a more customary night for people to look for sci-fi. The first story to benefit from multiple airings will be The Pirate Planet. |

WYBE 35 in Philadelphia, PA had better be careful. Now that WYIN has sworn off incompetence and confusion, WYBE could develop a bad reputation. Last weekend Doctor Who was going to be pre-empted by an all day Ballykissangel marathon that was running until Midnight. Except that the marathon was over by 11PM and the first 2 episodes of Enlightenment aired in the regular time slot when people were not expecting it. Now their website has announced that The 5 Doctors will air as a special this Saturday Night. What will this mean for Enlightenment? Which version of 5 Doctors? And what's the start time? This is not quite to the level of airing random episodes from seasons you've already finished yet, but it is rapidly approaching chaos for anyone who can't stay up and uses a VCR. |
|
Speaking of WYIN 56 in Gary, IN - does anyone know how they did in last weekend's pledge drive? The renewal of the show was going to be based on how the pledge night went, so it would be interesting to know if the show will continue. It would also be nice to have some indication when KERA 13 in Dallas, TX finally plans to begin its weekly showings of Doctor Who. |

New Zealand fans might notice that Prime TV renewed its Doctor Who contract recently, so the show will continue beyond Image of the Fendahl. They have currently ordered the episodes through TheHornsOfNimon, which is likely to air in May at their current rate of showing episodes. Thanks to the discussion board on http://www.tetrap.com/drwho/nzdwfc/ for that tidbit. |
|
Prime TV in New Zealand is cutting back its number of Doctor Who episodes. Beginning Sunday, 1 April, Prime will air 1 episode a day at 6PM (Sundays through Fridays) instead of 2 episodes in movie format. So, onlly 6 episodes a week instead of 12. Stingray will air at 6:30PM. Thanks to Alden Bates for the alert. |

WYBE 35 Philadelphia, PA http://www.wybe.org/ Sat TBA PM EST The Five Doctors format unknown At press time, it was unclear whether it would be 2 episodes of the 4 episode version, the original 90 minute movie, or the 105 minute Special Edition. It was added to their schedule too late to be certain on the start time. Probably 9, 10, or 11PM. If 11PM, it will probably rerun Monday morning at 4AM. Sat 11PM, Mon 4AM EST Enlightenment eps 3+4 of 4 The first 2 episodes of Enlightenment aired without notice last week, so these episodes should air this week. May be pre-empted by The Five Doctors. |
