Before Star Trek: Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, Earth: Final Conflict and similar shows had their characters find themselves in faked realities, the Doctor and Sarah came across a disturbing facsimile of an English village. Why would someone go to all the trouble of copying rural England. Maybe it's due to the space station out there, with the U*N*I*T presence.
