When a Melkur on Traken fails to die in the usual manner, but instead plots the destruction of one of the most peaceful empires in the cosmos, the Doctor and Adric are called to investigate. Unfortunately, Traken's keeper forgot the importance of making certain his subjects developed their intelligence, leaving them under the easy temptation of the first strong mind to show up.
