Initial figures: 5.480m viewers (overnight), 25.9% audience share, 3rd place day

Initial ratings: the peak figure for the episode was 5.58m. It was the third most popular show of the night with ITV's talent show, Britain's Got Talent, once more taking top spot with 9.2m viewers. The annual Eurovision Song Contest had an average audience of 7.7m with audiences peaking at 9.1m during the end of the voting.

Doctor Who outrated its direct opposition You've Been Framed! Top 100 Holidays (4.1m) during its first half hour, but the tables were turned during its final 15 minutes when the drama achieved 5.3m against 8m for BGT.

Figures during the week gave 6.519m viewers after 24 hours, 6.815m (2 days), 7.022m (3 days), 7.128m (4 days) and 7.241m (5 days).

Finals: the episode achieved 7.45m viewers, ending up 8th for the week before ITV+1 and HD figures are included, 10th once consolidated. It was the third most watched programme of the week, behind the The Eurovision Song Contest and one episode of Eastenders. ITV won the week with Britain's Got Talent, Coronation Street and one episode of Emmerdale in the top Ten.

AI: Doctor Who scored higher than most of Saturday's output with only Dad's Army on BBC2 scoring higher with 89. Britain's Got Talent scored 84, with the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest scoring 69.
