The 3rd Doctor finds evidence that the Master is at work on Earth again. And for the first time, the Master has remembered that he is a Time Lord, and that maybe the trick to galactic conquest is not through armies, but by taking control of time itself.

The 3rd Doctor has been captured by the Gel Guards, leaving the 2nd Doctor and U.N.I.T stranded. So the Time Lords try to send the 1st Doctor in to help. Meanwhile, the Brigadier has his first ever trip through time and space.
