DRAMA "A dark and queer business" is the key line at the start of The Crimson Horror - and a perfect summation of what follows. It was a pearl among 2013's patchy offerings, and episode described to me with glee by its writer Mark Gatiss as "a lurid, Victorian penny-dreadful with 'orrible murder. A properly northern Who - underexplored in the show. It's very me!" He devised it as a vehicle for Dame Diana Rigg an her daughter Rachael Stirling - their first time on screen together and Rigg's first role calling for her native Doncaster accent. At 8:15pm, Nightmare in Silver, Neil Gaiman's abysmal Cyberman outing - a waste of everyone's time and talent. Credit: Radio Times (p120)
