Space announced today that it is aligning with BBC America and BBC One in the UK to deliver a space-and-time shattering casting announcement about Spaces #1 series, Doctor Who. The announcement of the actor chosen to embody the Twelfth Time Lord will be revealed in the live, commercial-free simulcast special, Doctor Who Live: The Next Doctor, exclusively on Space in Canada, Sunday, Aug. 4 at 2 p.m. ET. Until then, Whovians who cant stand the anticipation can weigh in with their comments at space.ca or tweet #DWAnnouncement @SpaceChannel.
Widely regarded as one of the most hotly contested roles in British television, Doctor Who Live: The Next Doctor host Zoe Ball will unveil the Twelfth Doctor in front of a live studio audience set against the backdrop of a swirling vortex, Daleks, and the TARDIS. The half hour show will include live special guests, Doctors old and new, as well as companions and celebrity fans. Excitement reaches fever pitch as they speculate and recall their favourite Doctors, and moments from across the series 50-year history. Current Doctor Matt Smith and lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat both give interviews about one of the biggest roles in TV, and set out just what it takes to be the Doctor. The decision is made and the time has come to reveal whos taking over the TARDIS, said Moffat. For the last of the Time Lords, the clock is striking 12. |
