Series 8, Episodes 15 through 16. Doctor: Jon Pertwee. The Time Lords operate the TARDIS remotely, giving Jo her first adventure in Time and Space. The 3rd Doctor lands on a planet where the farming is failing and a mining operation wants to move in. But the Time Lords had their own reasons for sending the Doctor, and they're not land grab related.
