For 60 years Airfix has led the model making craze that has dominated the toy market and today, with Doctor Who and F1 kits for a new generation of model makers, it remains as relevant as ever. The model, which takes a week to build and 2 days to paint, is on an actual 1:1 scale Spitfire, spanning 11m, 8.8m long and 3.3m tall.
