KOCE was launched on 20th November 1972 and serves Los Angeles. In 2011 when KCET left PBS, the channel formed a partnership with KCVR and KLRS to create PBS SoCal, which covers most of Los Angeles and surrounding area.

It showed the new series of Doctor Who from 2007.
