NRK3 launched on 3rd September 2007 by the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation. It is a youth/young adult oriented station, showing a number of imported British and American shows.

In 2008 the channel showed the first series of the new Doctor Who starring Christopher Eccleston, which had previously been shown on sister channel NRK2. This was the only time the series featured on the channel.
