FX was launched in September 2012 by Star India, with an HD version from 23rd September 2015. It was marketed as an edgy entertaiment channel to rival AXN, and had been noted as the second most popular channel in the English entertainmet genre.

Doctor Who was added to the line-up from 15th May 2015, and showed the entire modern series from Rose through to The Return of Doctor Mysterio, with the latter two specials and Series 9 shown close to their UK transmission.

The channel was closed down on 15th June 2017.
