TWO HOUR BACK–TO-BACK DOCTOR WHO REVISITED SPECIALS THIS SUNDAY ON UKTV

The first four Doctor Who revisited specials from BBC America will air this Sunday, August 18 from 4:30pm on UKTV.

These programmes provide an introduction to each of the previous incarnations of the Doctor and are designed to work alongside a specially curated selection of stories. These specials feature:

  • interviews with key cast and crew,
  • classic clips,
  • a montage of the Doctors’ key moments, iconic lines and monsters and contributions from Steven Moffat, John Barrowman, David Tennant, Caroline Skinner and Neil Gaiman, among others.

These specials are the perfect companion pieces to some of the classic and newer Doctor Who series.

Schedule change details

The original schedule had the two BBC America documentaries The Story of Doctor Who and The Timey-Wimey of Doctor Who in those timeslots instead.

Australia, get excited. The UK TV channel has confirmed to TV Tonight it will screen the third series of Torchwood “Children of Earth” in June.

The series will be fastracked by the channel after its UK premiere.

The 5 part series will air in the UK across five consecutive nights, as it will in Australia via UK TV.

UK TV will also simulcast the series in Australia on BBC HD.

1965: Twelve children are gathered together on a deserted moorland, before being surrounded by a harsh, bright light, and then they are gone!

Today: All over planet Earth, children stop moving. Stop playing. Stop laughing. Stop everything. Then, as one, they begin to speak with the same voice, announcing to the governments of the world the imminent arrival of a new alien threat. ‘We Are Coming, We Are Coming’.

As the British Government closes ranks, it issues a death warrant against Captain Jack and Torchwood. Now forced to flee for their lives, it becomes clear to the Torchwood team that this isn’t the aliens’ first visit to Earth, and a terrible price is going to be paid for sins of the past...

ABC has re-run rights to Torchwood which it will air mid year. Series two is currently screening on UK TV.

TV Tonight will keep you posted on an airdate...
