Welcome to the ORIGINAL This Week In Doctor Who. All the known broadcasts of
Doctor Who covered weekly since 1998. With the spinoffs too.

UK - BBC One/BBC HD are premiering The Vampire Of Venice at the special early
time of 6PM BST tonight to allow an extended episode of Over The Rainbow to end
before arch competitor Britain's Got Talent starts on ITV1. The Vampires Of
Venice has also been advertised as "Vampires Of Venice" and "Vampires In
Venice". The online Radio Times indicate that the edited Sunday repeat of Doctor
Who Confidential will start at 8:50PM instead of 8:45PM. If true, this indicates
that The Vampires Of Venice may be longer than a regular 45 minute episode -
certainly longer than the 42 and 43 minute episodes of the last 4 weeks. On 15
May Doctor Who shifts back to 6:25PM BST, while on 22 May Doctor Who moves
forward to 6:15PM BST.

UK - The previous paragraph may be thrown out the window by last Thursday's UK
General Election. No one political party won enough seats to have a majority of
the House Of Commons. This is not a political column, though based on all the
media I've listened to in the last year while checking Doctor Who stuff - having
NO political party properly win this election seems quite appropriate and clever
- wish we could have that happen more in the USA. The result of this outcome is
that as we go to press the three main parties plus certain minor partiesthen are
all jockeying to figure out who will be part of the new government. And
everybody seems to think that there needs to be a government as soon as
possible. If they come to any decisions today, it could result in live coverage
on BBC One again and disrupt the schedule. If Doctor Who's start time gets
shifted or the episode gets knocked back a week by the actions of politicans
today, then that is the price of the democratic system in the UK.

UK - RADIO - BBC Radio 7 http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio7 will begin airing the long
awaited 3rd Series of the 8th Doctor/Lucie Miller (aka Paul McGann/Sheridan
Smith) Doctor Who stories. These episodes were serialized online and on CD by
Big Finish over a year ago. 30 minute episodes air Sundays at 6PM and Midnight
BST starting 16 May (taking the slot currently held by Barry Letts'
autobiography series). BBC Radio 7 streams live worldwide and shows can be heard
on the listen again/iPlayer feature on their website for a week after broadcast.

USA - BBC America http://www.bbcamerica.com has announced that Being Human
Series 2 starts on 24 July, and in doing so has revealed how the rest of the
current Doctor Who series will play out. The Doctor Who finale will be the
lead-in to Being Human. When BBC America has done this recently (Primeval Series
3 into Being Human Series 1, Final Doctor Who Special into Demons), the show
ending its run shifts from 9PM Eastern to 8PM Eastern that night only. Being
Human will have 75 minute time slots if BBC America handles it like Series 1, so
the time shift for Doctor Who will surely happen. It firms up that Doctor Who
will not air new episodes in the USA on Memorial Day Weekend (29 May) or the 4th
of July Weekend (3 July), as those pre-emptions will place episode 13 on 24
July. You can see how that breaks down in the BBC America listing below.

CANADA - SPACE http://www.spacecast.com will begin its long anticipated run of the Christopher Eccleston/David Tennant episodes on Monday 31 May. These episodes will air 4 or 5 days a week (we don't have the Friday 4 June listings from that week yet). Episodes premiere at 8PM Eastern/5PM Pacific, with repeats at Midnight Eastern/9PM Pacific and the next day at 11AM Eastern/8AM Pacific. It is unknown how long CBC Bold will continue repeating these episodes - Christopher Eccleston episodes are still airing on that station late Wednesdays at Midnight and 3AM Eastern for at least the next 2 weeks.

CANADA - SPACE reminder - the current series of Doctor Who is pre-empted on 22 May due to a movie marathon, but will air on the 29th of May (when BBC America is pre-empting the show), so the two networks will be back in synch by the 5th of June. Since it appears that SPACE cannot air episodes ahead of BBC America by their current contracts, expect SPACE to also do a pre-emption on 3 July (being just after the 1 July Canada Day celebrations, I imagine there'll be some movie or series marathon running that weekend anyway) and finish on 24 July.

AUSTRALIA - no actual news, just that yes I know viewers of Doctor Who on ABC1
are getting smug right now because due to the pre-emptions they will get 1 and
then 2 weeks ahead of the US and Canada in watching this year's Doctor Who.
Well, you are still 2 weeks behind the UK (barring any election chaos today).
