News is slowly emerging that public broadcaster SVT in Sweden has bought the Swedish rights to Doctor Who. There are 2 regular SVT channels (SVT 1 and SVT 2) and news channel SVT 24 (wouldn't expect Doctor Who on that one). SVT's website is http://svt.se/ . Based on the reports, the 2005 series of Doctor Who will tentatively air Thursdays at 8PM on one of the SVT channels early in 2006. This was apparently said on air right before a movie with Christopher Eccleston in it aired last month. The news has also appeared in a newspaper article not yet online focused on SVT's purchase of US Teen Drama/Mystery series >Veronica Mars. If you can read Swedish, this is being discussed at http://www.scifinytt.se/ . Congratulations Sweden! |
