THIS WEEK IN DOCTOR WHO - April 21, 2000
by Benjamin F. Elliott
KRWG 22 Las Cruces, NM (El Paso, TX market) is pulling the series off the air after next week's broadcast (Image of the Fendahl - movie format). For the month of May, "I, Claudius" and "Travels In Europe" will air in the Doctor's spot. KRWG has not, to my knowledge, announced what the future of the series on their station will be, but I would not call this a vote of confidence. KRWG has aired the series for just under a year, showing the Tom Baker stories through The Armageddon Factor, then restarting with Robot.
My apologies to fans who've watched Doctor Who on KSPS Spokane, WA. Last week I omitted the prefix "non-" from a description of what will happen in the Doctor's timeslot through May. KSPS will air "non-Doctor Who" specials through May, not "Doctor Who" specials through May. At last word, KSPS was still evaluating the future of Doctor Who on their station. If the show is renewed, KSPS may well switch to episode format, airing 1 or 2 episodes a week instead of the movie versions.
3 weeks till Doctor Who in New Zealand! Prime TV airs the show weekdays at 6:25PM effective May 15th, starting with the 1st episode.

UK Gold
Sun 9:20-11:05AM BST Revelation of the Daleks movie
An odd choice for Easter Sunday, but the station is airing the stories in order. An intergalactically renowned cemetery/cryogenic hospital has a dark secret at its core. Up till now it has merely driven the employees to a sort of madness. But now things are getting worse. Bodysnatchers, a brilliant assassin, the Doctor, and the galaxy's President are all coming for a visit at the same time. The death toll could be staggering. On a lighter note, keep an eye on Alexi Sayle's wardrobe. At one point, he wears the 7th Doctor's costume, two years before Sylvester McCoy was hired, much less picked out an outfit.

UK Gold 2/Classic

The 1st Doctor travels to a point in the future later than any examined in the series since. Earth is facing imminent destruction, and one ship is taking humanity to its new home. Only humanity could be foolish enough after millions of years of experience to trust the safety of its entire species to just one ship. To be fair, though, they never expected to face the terror that is Dodo Chaplet.
Mon-Thu 11:30PM AEST The War Machines eps 1 - 4 of 4
Final available 1st Doctor story. The Doctor and Dodo get back to 1966 London, where the Post Office Tower has been completed. In that tower, a pre-eminent scientist has developed the world's most powerful computer, capable of linking with all the computers on Earth to form a World Wide Web of shared information. Of course, this is science fiction. Who could ever believe in a network of computers sharing information across the entire planet?
