Section B - The US Public TV stations:

Alaska Public TV has updated their schedule - instead of New Earth,
Rose will air. Presumably New Earth was there as an error. Enjoy the
second time through the Eccleston episodes.

WTVP 47 Peoria, IL's http://www.wtvp.org schedule shows New Earth airing on May 31 at 9PM CDT, the first proof that has arisen that the station bought Series 2. At the time that press releases came out on stations that bought Series 2, WTVP was in danger of being closed down by a bank over a loan that was called in. The Series 2 purchase presumably came in after the station's financial situation improved.

KLCS 58 Los Angeles http://www.klcs.org returns Doctor Who to its lineup after a 1 year break! Series 1 will have its second run Sundays at 10PM PDT starting 1 June, with repeats late Fridays at 4AM starting 6 June. Since KLCS had not aired Doctor Who since the end of May 2007, I had just about given up on this station - I am very happy to be mistaken. This is a great chance to get people to tune in (probably to the Sunday broadcast) and let KLCS know that fans are watching Who on these public TV broadcasts and are looking for more episodes.

KVCR 24 San Bernadino (Los Angeles' market) http://www.kvcr.org has a premiere date for Doctor Who Series 2. Sunday 22 June 9PM PDT - New Earth. This is KVCR's first showing of new Doctor Who. It is not known if KLCS and KOCE (the LA stations that aired Series 1) have bought Series 2.

WYBE 35 http://www.wybe.org aired Doctor Who from 1999 to 2005, only dropping Who due to contract issues (at the time stations could not renew Doctor Who). It was long hoped that WYBE would pick up new or classic Who again. WYBE has done a format flip - now called Mind TV, they focus on viewer submitted videos. Similar to Al Gore's Current TV, though they purport to have worked on the concept longer, and theirs is local rather than national. I think we can rule out Doctor Who on WYBE now.

Series 1 is currently available to public TV stations in a package
until February 28, 2009. Series 2 is currently available to public TV
stations in a package until March 31, 2010. At this time, stations do
not have access to Series 3 and 4.

5 Public TV stations currently have rights to air the classic Doctor Who run (1963-1989). Iowa Public TV is currently airing both Series 2 and Peter Davison episodes. Maryland Public TV is airing Series 1 while resting classic Who. KBTC 28 Tacoma, WA and WCET 48 Cincinnati, OH are airing Tom Baker episodes while resting Series 1. WHRO 15 Norfolk, VA is airing Tom Baker episodes but apparently does not have New Who Series rights.

Three stations have, to the best of our knowledge, used all their rights to the Series 1 package - WLVT 39 Allentown, PA, WILL 12 Urbana, IL, Iowa Public TV, and Idaho Public TV. If they air Series 1 again, then that means they re-bought the package. OETA Oklahoma is currently on their 4th and presumably final cycle of Series 1. WMFE 24 Orlando, FL did not renew Doctor Who and is not expected to air it again. If any other stations have made similar determinations, they have yet to let us know.
