Torchwood This Week has the
schedule information on spinoff series Torchwood.
BBC 7 presents the 6th episode of its
series of brand new Doctor Who radio dramas this Sunday at 6PM and
Midnight GMT. Fans around the world can listen live or tune in to
each episode on the website for 7 days afterwards. Paul McGann
returns as the 8th Doctor. The stories are produced with Big Finish,
who will later release them on CD. Immediately after the episodes is
the tie-in documentary series "Beyond The Vortex".
On 1 January, the hour long premiere episode of The Sarah Jane
Adventures aired on BBC One. As a CBBC show, many viewers probably
expected frequent repeats and that it would be easy to see later.
That may happen in future months, but so far - nothing. Unless you
happen to be a UK soldier serving overseas. BFBS 1 and BFBS Navy will
air the episode *one* time - Sunday 4 February at 6PM CET (6 hours
before the US Super Bowl and 1 hour before the new Doctor Who audio
drama on BBC7, for those who tally such things). To the UK military -
enjoy the episode, it was a lot of fun to see. Make certain to tape
it though - you may have relatives and *friends* begging for a copy.
CBC TV did indeed run New Earth instead of Fear Her on January 29
(and in the Eastern Time zone viewers joined the episode in progress
at 8:18PM) due to live coverage of the Ken Drysden hockey jersey
retirement ceremony. Fear Her airs this week, with CBC's season now
ending on February 19. The placeholder on February 26 has
disappeared, so CBC is definitely not airing The Runaway Bride with
Series 2. The Friday late night broadcasts are repeats of Series 1,
not repeats of that Monday's Series 2 episode.
BBC Two Wales Digital ran an episode of their "On Show" programme on
26 December called "Designs On Doctor Who". It was hosted by Tom
Baker. While it was listed in this column, many people didn't realize
it was airing until it was too late. Get the word out - it is being
repeated tonight at 10PM GMT. It is only airing on BBC Two Wales
Digital, so if you live outside that particular regional
transmitter's broadcast area then you will need to have Sky Digital
or be a good friend of someone with Sky Digital, as Sky is providing
all of the BBC regional variants to their customers. It will not be
airing on the regular BBC Two, or even BBC Two Wales - only BBC Two
Wales Digital.
Beginning Friday 9 February at 5AM, UKTV Gold begins a weekly run of Jon Pertwee episodes in episode format. First up - Terror of the Autons episode 1.
KBS2 in South Korea has finished its run of Series 2 of Doctor Who on Saturdays. Ugly Betty (US version) has taken its timeslot. If you have BBC Entertainment in South Korea (and in several nearby countries), Series 1 of Doctor Who continues repeats on Saturdays and Sundays.
Maryland Public TV alert - 1) MPT abruptly switched back to movie format versions of Doctor Who stories with last Saturday's broadcast (The Sun Makers). 2) Doctor Who's start time will be late every week in February, after the end of long episodes of The Vicar Of Dibley. The estimated start times are listed below in the column. Tivo is under the belief that Doctor Who is starting at 12:30AM the next couple of weeks, and assuming the episodes won't run past 1:30 or 2:30AM each week - they will. If you are using a DVR to record Doctor Who on MPT, pad both the start and end times.
Still only 5 public TV stations have announced that they have bought the {p{ChristopherEccleston Doctor Who episodes}} to air this Spring (Maryland Public TV and Iowa Public TV have not publicly announced as of this writing). The stations are WTTW 11 Chicago IL, KTEH 54/KCAH 25 San Jose/Watsonville CA, KBTC 28/KCKA 15 Tacoma/Centralia WA, WCET 48 Cincinnati OH, and WILL 12 Champaign-Urbana IL. Most stations who bought these episodes are expected to begin airing them in March or April, so we can expect more stations to announce soon. A reminder - Doctor Who is not part of the official PBS schedule. It is being sold seperately, like Rosemary & Thyme, Monarch Of The Glen, As Time Goes By, and Are You Being Served? Some stations will not have been able to afford it - some will think it is not a good match for their audience - some will think that everyone who was going to watch these episodes and support their station already saw the episodes on SciFi and BBC America.
For press releases on Doctor Who, keep an eye on the BBC Press Office and C21 Media .
