The big news of the week - A LOST DOCTOR WHO EPISODE HAS BEEN FOUND!

Episode 2 of The Daleks' Master Plan was returned to the BBC on
Thursday 15 January 2004, after being missing - presumed wiped for
decades. The episode - titled "Day Of Armageddon" - had its one and
only TV broadcast on 20 November 1965. The Daleks' Master Plan never
aired outside Britain. The surviving copy of this episode was
supposed to be junked in the early 70s but thankfully was preserved
by a BBC engineer who was unaware that no other copies of the
episode existed until he visited the Restoration Team's website
http://www.restoration-team.co.uk . The engineer also provided a
duplicate copy of episode 5 of "The Dead Planet", the original Dalek
story (episode title "The Expedition" - full story also known as The
Daleks or The Mutants). The full story of this recovery can be found

With this discovery, episodes 2, 5, and 10 of The Daleks' Master
Plan are now known to exist. Clips survive from episodes 1, 2
(higher picture quality than the recovered episode), 3, and 4. All
the missing Doctor Who episodes survive in audio form. This brings
the number of missing Doctor Who episodes down to 108. It is the
first complete Who episode discovery since the return of "The Lion",
episode 1 of The Crusade, was announced on Thursday 14 January
1999, 5 years and 1 day before this recovery. Of the 108 missing
episodes, 45 are from William Hartnell stories and 63 are from
Patrick Troughton stories.

I guess my prediction that we wouldn't have news akin to the series
returning this year has been proven wrong very quickly. I wonder
what will happen next.

Encore Australia is airing Daleks: Invasion Earth 2150A.D. on
Thursday 29 January at 6:45AM AEDT.

The South American Sci-Fi Channel (actually South Africa) is airing SF: UK - Trips Through Time And Space late Monday 16 February at 12:45AM. Matthew De Abaitua takes a look at 60s Doctor Who, the age of psychedelic sci-fi.
