BBC America http://www.bbcamerica.com/ has pulled Doctor Who slightly earlier than the July date mentioned on their FAQ. It looks like the final broadcast was at 5AM Eastern Time (2AM Pacific) today, June 22nd - the final portion of The Seeds of Doom. For many Americans with digital Cable or Satellite TV, this means the end of Doctor Who on their TVs. At least until the Sci-Fi Channel airs the 1996 Paul McGann movie on July 15th. |
Speaking of that, the Sci-Fi Channel's early listings for August seem to indicate that the movie will not get a rerun for at least several weeks after it airs. So, fans will want to make sure they see the movie the first time, or have whoever tapes it get it right the first time. Sci-Fi has 2 broadcast feeds, so you will need to know which feed your cable/satellite system uses before July 15thcomes along. Those of us in the Eastern and Central Time Zones are only offered the East Coast Feed, while viewers in the Mountain Time Zone and westward will need to pay more attention. Since the movie is airing at 9PM Eastern Time, here's the conversion for the time zones. Save this if you might forget: East Coast Feed: Eastern Daylight Time - 9 to 11PM Central Daylight Time - 8 to 10PM Mountain Daylight Time - 7 to 9PM Pacific Daylight Time - 6 to 8PM Alaska Time - 5 to 7PM Hawaii Time - 3 to 5PM West Coast Feed: Mountain Daylight Time - 10PM to Midnight Pacific Daylight Time - 9 to 11PM Alaska Time - 8 to 10PM Hawaii Time - 6 to 8PM |

My apologies to Australian readers. I missed the notice on Jason Fraser's site http://www.varos.com/drwho/uktv/ about UKTV pre-empting its regular programming on the 10th and 11th of June for a comedy marathon. As a result, the Australia information was inaccurate in the past 2 columns. It should be right this time. |
Also, I made a typo on the BBC's Doctor Who website last week. That site should be http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/doctorwho/ . The trailer for the Death Comes To Time episode is now online there, and the Death Comes To Time Doctor Who episode will premiere there in 6 real audio files on July 13th, the third anniversary of this column. The BBC will be counting the number of downloads, giving them their most accurate count ever on how many people have tuned into a Doctor Who story. The more of us who listen, the better. |
The story descriptions were not written this week due to time constraints and multiple technical problems. |
