The TARDIS, trapped in a time corridor, lands on Earth in the mid 1980s. The Daleks are back in town, as are androids pretending to be humans. A deadly chain of trust and betrayal, where no one you know is who they seem to be. And all to try to bring Davros, the evil creator of the Daleks, back to life. This story was presented in 45 minute episodes due to special programming on the BBC in 1984. It's success led to season 22 being presented in that format, at least in England.

The Master begins to exert control on Kamelion again, making him a danger to the TARDIS crew. Meanwhile Turlough rescues a teenager who has an artefact that comes from his home planet, causing him to react very badly.
