Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie present a feast of great music and chat for weekend breakfast
Today, actor and star of Doctor Who and The Thick Of It, Peter Capaldi, joins Mark and Stuart to share his First, Last and Everything - that’s the first record he bought, owned or loved, the most recent one he’s been enjoying and the record that means ‘everything’ to him.
Although he is famous for his role as Malcom Tucker in comedy TV series The Thick Of It and his time as the twelfth incarnation of Doctor Who, it is less well-known that Peter began his performing career in music… forming a band at art school in Glasgow in the 1980’s. Over the last few years Peter realised he wanted to make music again and wrote and recorded his debut album, which came out last month. As well as talking about his music memories and passions in ‘First, Last and Everything’ he also tells Mark and Stuart about the making of his own album.
Also on the show... long-running feature ‘The Chain’ which gives listeners the chance to pick a track that links in some way to the last. The list now contains over 8000 songs.
With a selection of music old and new to get the weekend started.
