yesWeekend was launched in October 2004 to show American and British television shows, originally during the weekends. In 2006 the channel was re-launched as yesSTARS, now showing programmes throughout the week. A year later the channel was expanded into three, with the original becoming yes stars 2. This was again extended to five, themed channels in 2009, with this channel now becoming yes stars Action. The "stars" element was dropped from 2010. (In 2011 another channel named yes SCI FI was introduced, but Doctor Who had long-since ceased being broadcast by yes by that point!).
