This Week In Doctor Who
February 7, 2009 - Vol 12, No 6
The weekly guide to Doctor Who broadcasts worldwide since 1998.

Upcoming Premiere Broadcasts:
Saturday 7 February:
KBS 2 South Korea Late 12:25AM - Forest Of The Dead
Sunday 8 February:
KBS 2 South Korea Late 12:25AM - Midnight
BBC Entertainment South Africa 7PM and Midnight CAT - Gridlock
Doctor Who is going HD! News broke earlier this week that the
specials, beginning with Planet Of The Dead, will be made in high
definition. Doctor Who has been made in 16:9 widescreen since the
revival began in 2005, but the 56 episodes to date were made in
standard definition video. The BBC's policy for years has been that
all new production would be in HD by 2010.
Expect the new episodes to appear on BBC HD in the UK as well as BBC
One and BBC Three. Hopefully the HD version will help with
international sales and maintaining deals with existing broadcasters,
where more and more of them want HD product.
Radio - The Toby Hadoke play "Moths Ate My Doctor Who Scarf" repeats
this Sunday at 6PM and Midnight GMT on BBC Radio 7
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio7 . You can listen on digital radio in the
UK, digital TV in the UK, on streaming audio worldwide, and through
the listen again feature for a week after the broadcast. Toby Hadoke
will be at the Gallifrey convention in Los Angeles, CA, USA from 13
to 15 February.
Ireland - TV3 is starting a repeat run of Doctor Who, over a year after their last broadcast of the show. Hopefully the repeats of Series 2 (albeit in late night) are a precurser to airing Series 3. The repeats start late Thursday 19 February at 1:35AM.
Gallifrey - Some of the readership will be at the Gallifrey
Convention http://www.gallifreyone.com in Los Angeles next weekend. I
had hoped to make it there again (I was there in 2007 and 2008), but
it will not be possible this time. I am planning to be back next
year - whether you like it, or not.
For press releases on Doctor Who, keep an eye on the BBC Press Office
http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice and C21 Media

Listings for North and South America are in This Week In Doctor Who
