It's the end, but the moment has been prepared for. The Doctor Who episodes are about to get shorter, and the period of time from 9:05 to 9:10AM will find itself being used by other programming. After its initial upset and sobbing, those 5 minutes of time begin to resign themselves to their fate. But first, they have one less conversation between the 4th Doctor and Adric, where the Doctor decides to measure the TARDIS. It was a mistake the Doctor never should have made.
Sun 9:10-11AM BST Castrovalva movie
The Master finally picks up a companion (albeit an unwilling one) in the first story of the 5th Doctor. The regeneration has gone badly, leaving the Doctor unable to concentrate and the TARDIS travelling towards Event One.
