The channel was launched in October 1997 as the local version of Travel Channel. After the purchase by Discovery Communications and BBC Programming, it became People + Arts and showed a mix of British and American television series and reality shows.

The channel was shown in Spain, dubbed into Spanish, and in Portugal with subtitles. There was also a version shown in Latin America.

It closed down on 12th April 2010, with the American station rebranded as Liv.
