Thursday 2 February:
Style UK 9PM UAE - The Parting of the Ways (1st Series Finale)
People + Arts (Spain/Portugal) 10:30PM CET - Aliens of London
Friday 3 February:
Yes Weekend - 6:20 & 10:53PM - Aliens of London/{AliensOfLondon/2}}
Jimmy (Italy) - 9PM - The Parting of the Ways (1st Series Finale)
Saturday 4 February:
één Belgium 4:15PM - The Empty Child
Tuesday 7 February:
Ztélé Canada 8PM - Dalek
Friday 17 March:
SciFi US 9PM EST/PST - Rose (US Premiere!)
This week marks the end of regular Doctor Who episodes in certain
parts of the world.
The Middle East and North Africa (via Showtime Arabia's Style UK)
get The Parting Of The Ways on 2 and 3 February, with no more
episodes airing this month.
Italians (via Canal Jimmy) also get The Parting of the Ways beginning 3 February (final broadcast on 9 February). There seems to be a hole on 10 February - not sure what's airing there. All of Doctor Who's timeslots go to the Joss Whedon series Firefly beginning 17 February.
Australians say goodbye to the late afternoon/early evening repeats of the Classic Doctor Who episodes this Friday 3 February. A few stories have been skipped for various rights issues, but ABC has gone through the original run of the series. This run began in September 2003 (just before the new series was announced), and has continued for nearly 29 months. ABC has no plans to air the old Doctor Who episodes again at this time. I would not be surprised if UKTV Australia http://www.uktv.com.au picked up the old episodes again at some point, as they aired the classic series several times between 1996 and 2003. No sign of them airing classic Doctor Who in February or March. ABC still has repeat rights for the 2005 Series (repeats not scheduled at this time), and there is no doubt that Australia will get The Christmas Invasion and Series Two this year.
USA - The countdown to the premiere of the 2005 episodes (with Christopher Eccleston) on SciFi http://www.scifi.com continues. The Doctor Who SciFi site http://www.scifi.com/doctorwho still hasn't launched. An additional repeat for episode 2 - The End Of The World - has appeared on the schedule late Sunday March 26 at Midnight. This is one hour later than the repeat for Rose on March 19 - it implies that Sunday repeats could be a regular thing on the channel (a plus for Doctor Who fans who work on Friday nights). The film Jurassic Park eliminates the 11PM time period on the 26th, so Doctor Who might be airing at Midnight for that reason - or it could be the regular repeat time - too soon to tell.
UK - Not this week, but next Friday 9 February at 9PM GMT BBC Three http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcthree will repeat The Christmas Invasion, the 2005 Christmas special linking Series One to Series Two and introducing David Tennant as the Doctor. No special meaning apparent in this sudden repeat, unless they wanted to tie-in to UKTV Gold's completion of the Series One repeat run 5 days earlier at 5:35PM GMT.
UKTV Gold will have a Doctor Who Weekend on 18 and 19 March at 11AM each day, airing the 13 {S29=Series One}} episodes again.
» this changed later to 8th/9th April
The BBC has not announced a premiere date for Series Two, with
speculation falling anywhere from 11 March to 15 April. If it is
handled like Series One, there should be between 2 to 3 weeks notice
of the actual start date, because that is when they will actually
decide "we're starting the series on x-date". There is no evidence
that a decision on the Saturday of the premiere has been made yet.
The new episode of American Who http://www.americanwho.net with
tributes to Robert Sloman and Gary Downie is online - see the link
below.
Congratulations to Outpost Gallifrey http://www.gallifreyone.com on
reaching 10 years of age this week. The home site for the Gallifrey
One conventions and perhaps the most notable fan Doctor Who site out
there. (And it's one of the places where this column is mirrored -
though it would merit the mention anyway.) The best source for
Doctor Who news for years, and a fast way to get out to most of the
other great Doctor Who websites around. Kudos to Shaun Lyon and
those who have helped that site over the years.
The BBC Press Office http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice and C21 Media
http://www.c21media.net often announce when a Doctor Who
international sale occurs. Worth keeping an eye on, just in case.

Late Saturday 12:03-2:45AM EST The Ambassadors of Death movie
Season 7, Episodes 12 through 18. Doctor: Jon Pertwee.
Note - this is the movie version compiled in the mid 1980s. In addition to being entirely in black & white, the section that represents episode 5 (beginning about 90 minutes into the movie) is very poor quality - somewhat muted sound with fuzz, terrible picture, etc. Picture quality improves with the 6th episode. To my knowledge, this is the only version of The Ambassadors of Death offered in the US since the 1980s. It should not be taken as evidence of the quality of the title on VHS if you want to buy it before the leftover copies disappear. Episode 5 on the VHS is very good quality, and is fully restored to color by the Restoration Team. Just - do not panic when you see the picture quality drop on MPT - your TV is not acting up.EMD
