British Satellite Broadcasting (BSB) was launched on 26 March 1990 and provided five channels covering Movies, Sports, Entertainment (Galaxy Channel), Music (The Power Station), and News (Now). Sky had launched the year before, and both (incompatible) systems suffered from advertising issues. The two merged in November 1990 as British Sky Broadcasting, and Galaxy - which had been broadcasting Doctor Who the start - was replaced by Sky One.
