Torchwood This Week has the
schedule information on spinoff series Torchwood.
The Doctor Who saga turns 43 years old on the 23rd of November.
The BBC Press Office has a release about their Christmas schedule
r/22/christmas.shtml . Doctor Who features twice in their Christmas
plans - the release highlights that The Runaway Bride is the Doctor
Who Christmas episode and that the 1 hour premiere of The Sarah Jane
Adventures will air during the Christmas season as well. It also
highlights The Ruby In The Smoke, a film starring Billie Piper (Rose
Tyler) that will air in the same season. It is an adaptation of the
Phillip Pullman novel. Expect Christmas schedules to be finalized on
7 December.
BBC Four continues its Doctor Who repeat
run this Monday at 7:10PM GMT with the first half of The Ark In
Space. It concludes on 4 December.
Doctor Who has premiered in Romania on TVR2. It is currently airing
Monday through Friday at 5PM, with repeats Tuesday through Friday at
9AM. TVR's website does not make it clear which episode is airing on
which day, through from photos it appears that Series 1 and 2 will be
airing in this daily run. Let's get the word out in Romania. If
anyone knows which episodes are airing on which days, please let me
Doctor Who is back on the air in Poland. Saturdays at 11:10PM on TVP1.
BBC America has made a couple of schedule changes for repeats of their Doctor Who broadcasts. This Friday's airings of Rose will now be at 9AM and 5:30PM Eastern (6AM and 2:30PM Pacific) instead of ½ hour later. The Saturday 2 December airings of The End Of The World have moved to 9PM and Midnight Eastern (6PM and 9PM Pacific), which will be the regular repeat times for the show. First airings on the channel are Tuesdays at 10PM and 1AM Eastern (7PM and 10PM Pacific).
I haven't been able to determine if Rose aired uncut on BBC America last night or not (SciFi made an edit for time on their airings of the episode, BBC America usually gives dramas 45 ½ minutes of time in an hour and would not have needed to cut for their regular commercial load). It was a letterbox presentation with the full 16:9 frame in the image. Unlike some of their other dramas (including Mile High and Footballer$ Wives), the Next Time trailer from the UK broadcasts and the DVD releases was omitted, with BBC America doing their own trailer during the closing credits. The closing credits were remade and appeared as text on the left, as BBC America tends to do in primetime - usually the original closing credits will run on repeats if they air far enough away from primetime - we'll find out when they air a repeat away from primetime.
SciFi is *not* airing Doctor Who this weekend, because they always pre-empt SciFi Friday on Thanksgiving weekend for a movie marathon. The Satan Pit airs on December 1 at 8PM and Midnight Eastern.
Now, there has been some speculation about SciFi's news that
Battlestar Galactica is moving to Sundays to help launch a new drama
night for them. The move is happening in January 2007, after Doctor
Who's 2nd series finishes on SciFi. It won't affect Doctor Who for
the time being - SciFi probably won't use Doctor Who repeats in
primetime, as they didn't repeat the 1st series in primetime (there
were some repeats outside of primetime). As SciFi hasn't purchased
Doctor Who Series 3 (or Torchwood Series 1 or The Sarah Jane
Adventures) as of this writing, we can't effectively guess when it
will be scheduled.
Canadian French station Ztele will repeat Series 2 beginning this Tuesday in the same timeslots that they have been airing Series 2 for the past 3 months. The Christmas Invasion is being skipped this time around, unless it airs out of sequence at Christmas. If the full Series airs, they will finish Series 2 just a few weeks after it finishes on the CBC the first time.
PBS station KTEH/KCAH 54,25 in San Jose & Watsonville, CA will air
the documentary Patrick Troughton in America this Friday at 7PM PST.
For press releases on Doctor Who, keep an eye on the BBC Press Office and C21 Media .
