Welcome to the weekly guide to Doctor Who broadcasts around the world. Rather slow week, so probably something big will happen in September and throw us all for a loop. |
For any Canadians who missed it last week, BBC Kids http://www.bbckids.ca is moving Doctor Who from 1AM Eastern to 2AM Eastern effective Monday 6 September. Still 2 episodes weekdays and complete stories on weekends. The 3:30AM repeat is being discontinued. |
With the US/Canadian Region 1 DVD of Pyramids Of Mars coming out on September 7th, I'm reminded that once again the Howard Da Silva introductions to the episodes will be included as an extra. If the name Howard Da Silva draws a blank, check the following two links from the archives: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/thisweekindoctorwho/message/110 - The Howard Da Silva story as detailed by TJ Lubinsky in 2001. Why was an actor hired to do voice overs for a British TV show coming to the US in 1978? Compiled shortly before the release of the first batch of Doctor Who DVDs in the US in 2001, which included The Robots Of Death. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/thisweekindoctorwho/message/111 - Followup with TJ Lubinsky in February 2002 detailing the Howard Da Silva intros used for The Ark In Space, which was released on DVD in the US later that year. |

Considering that one of the features on the site right now is Lauren Urban saying her goodbyes as she moves to Buffalo and steps down as a regular co-host, I think we can piece this edition together. |
