Updated Synopsis 1: The Twelfth Doctor's era begins! The Doctor has regenerated and now Clara has to deal with the fact that her best friend appears to have changed completely. The newly regenerated Time Lord must face a terrifying monster.

Original Synopsis: Peter Capaldi makes his debut as the Doctor in a special feature-length first episode ‘Deep Breath’. Set in Victorian London, the newly regenerated Doctor is reunited with companion, Clara (Jenna Coleman).

Peter Capaldi makes his debut as the Doctor in a special feature-length first episode, Deep Breath.

Set in Victorian London, this episode reunites the newly regenerated Doctor and returning companion, Clara (Jenna Coleman), with series regulars and fan favourites, Madame Vastra (Neve McIntosh), Jenny (Catrin Stewart) and Strax (Dan Starkey).

ABC will simulcast this premiere episode, ‘Deep Breath’, in line with its broadcast in the UK, in the early hours (time TBC) of Sunday morning 24 August (EST).

Following the simulcast, the episode will be available to watch on ABC iview throughout the day before it broadcast on ABC at 7.40pm Sunday 24 August.
