Notes

DRAMA After pulling in disappointing numbers as BBC3's online series in October, this Doctor Who spin-off will be hoping to pull in bigger ratings for its terrestrial debut, beginning with tonight's double bill.

The story revolves around a group of sixth-form students tasked with protecting Earth from strange "tears" in space and time, which let all manner of alien nasties into their school. The Doctor (Peter Capaldi in a cameo) can't be there all the time, so it's up to them - and their unusual teacher Miss Quill, played by Mr Selfridge's Katherine Kelly - to save the day, pass their exams and navigate their complex personal lives. As the Doctor quips, "it'll be a lot harder than media studies."
