The Doctor and Leela arrive in Victorian London where a number of young women have disappeared. A man's body is lifted from the Thames, covered in the bite marks of a giant rat.

Synopsis Source: Doctor Who Guide

Broadcast notes:

Intro: Everybody wants to play The Palace and the top act at London's Palace is a Chinese illusionist who is very good at what he does. The Doctor and Leela want to determine exactly what that is. They would be wise to be wary of a ventriloquist whose dummy is named Mr. Sin and of "The Talons of Weng-Chiang."

Outro: Can a warped, war criminal from the fifty-first century be the incarnation of an ancient Chinese god? One would be rash to conjecture. One would be better advised to return next Sunday evening at 11 for the inscrutable conclusion of "The Talons of Weng-Chiang." [source: ChicagoEpguides]
